Retained catheter

Abstract
Complications of epidural anesthesia were reported since 1943. We have experienced two cases of retained catheter during continuous epidural anesthesia.
In case 1, retained catheter was placed on epidural space which was removed by partial laminec¡þtomy.
In case 2, retained catheter was placed between skin and epidural space which was removed by skin incision.
As to epidural anesthesia, the following factors should be considered carefully, 1. the patient acceptance of this technic of anesthesia
2. technique should be expert
3. selection of the perfect catheter
4. the medico-legal problem
